Egeli was an already an accomplished portrait painter when he met Henry
Henshe in 1978. His father Bjorn and his teachers at the Art Students League
had grounded him in classical tonal painting, but Cedric saw something more
in Henry's work. There was another dimension, a dimension of vibrant and
descriptive color. Over the next twenty years, Cedric studied whenever he
could with Henry and worked to incorporate impressionists color into
his work. At first, his patrons didn't approve of his new and brighter paintings.
But when Cedric began to master Henry's teachings, his work took on a total
dimension. Today, Cedric is recognized as one of the masters of the outdoor,
impressionist portrait. Henry passed on in 1992, but his student was already
the master.
